There’s so much to explore in and around Lisbon! Sharing a few ways to spend a day. Also note that the hills in Lisbon are no joke – Ubers and Bolts are easy and affordable when you can’t walk up another hill. We also often grab scooters.
In Lisbon
Walk around Alfama
Take a car up to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte (a beautiful viewpoint) and then slowly make your way downhill through the winding streets. Expect lots of hills, beautiful views, and lots of places to stop for a drink along the way.
Explore Príncipe Real
A great neighborhood to wander around. There are lots of cute shops, restaurants, bars, and cafés, and it's an easy place to spend an afternoon without much of a plan.
Walk Avenida da Liberdade
Lisbon’s main boulevard, lined with shops, restaurants, cafés, and little outdoor bars along the park-like center.
Spend an afternoon in Belém
Walk along the waterfront, see the Belém Tower and Jerónimos Monastery, and, most importantly, stop for a pastel de nata at Pastéis de Belém.
Catch a Sporting CP match
As you may know, we try to attend a sporting event in every city we visit. If there's a home game while you're in town, highly recommend it! Head to Cantinho do Sá, a bar near the stadium. Grab a Super Bock, hang out with the fans, and then walk to the match.
Bar-hop through Bairro Alto
Narrow streets packed with tiny bars, most spilling out onto the sidewalk, come and see where the night takes you :).
Explore LX Factory
A former industrial complex turned creative hub, indie shops, street art, and cafés housed in old warehouses.
Around Lisbon
Spend the day in Sintra
About 40 minutes outside Lisbon, Sintra is full of colorful palaces, gardens, and great views.
Visit Cascais & Estoril
Walk around Cascais, grab lunch, spend some time by the water, or make your way along the coast toward Estoril.
Wander around Óbidos
A tiny medieval walled town about an hour from Lisbon. This place makes you feel like you’ve been transported into another time.
